Cooperate with African women solving climate change,
not middle men exploiting it

We are the only coop selling durable carbon and 95% goes to the communities doing the work

Every gram is tracked and every impact meaningful. The extra 5% is for independent and professional validation. You will always be able to see how much you removed!

What you get

Proof, not Ponzi!

Let’s face it - the carbon market lacks trust! So, we show proof of everything. Each month you get a certificate of what has been removed. The data will be shared with the scientific community to have more eyes checking to ensure this is not a Ponzi scheme!

Support farming communities

95% of your money goes to support the farming communities capturing your carbon. From young engineers to female farmers in coops growing profits for their families.

1000+ years durability

The best carbon removal is durable removal (>1,000 years) and the most widely sold durable removal method is biochar.

Major buyers like Google and Microsoft have expert teams who evaluate what is the best value and greatest impact. They are buying hundreds of thousands of tonnes of biochar based credits.

Why offset,
not avoid?

Some emissions
are simply unavoidable

But you can mitigate the consequences

While reducing emissions is crucial, some emissions from daily activities, travel, business operations, and production are simply unavoidable. Every carbon credit you buy means that the amount of CO2 was captured from the air, transformed into biochar, and permanently locked in the soil.

Our approach

Infographic showing The 7 Habits of a Highly Successful Planet with adaptation and mitigation strategies

1-6 Adaptation

Our coop helps farmers across Africa adapt to climate change. We use AI, satellites, science-based solutions and a cooperative mindset to massively increase yields and get farmers good prices at the market. That is step 1-6.

7 Mitigation

Step 7 is Mitigation which means removing the carbon dioxide that is a major driver of climate change. The same farms we help adapt to climate change can now be mini carbon removal factories. All farms have waste biomass which is typically burned. We turn that trash into treasure.

Pyrolysis
to lock carbon dioxide

Our model is to use pyrolysis to transform waste biomass into biochar. Pyrolysis is a technique of heating waste biomass at high temperature in a low oxygen environment. This essentially bakes the biomass turning the carbon into a type of coal (called intertinite). That is biochar.

High-efficient PyroTowers built locally

We developed a novel pyrolysis system, the PyroTower that is just as good as industrial factories but x100 cheaper. This system can be locally constructed in just days (creating more jobs!!) and easily deployed to where crops are harvested or weeds are present, so waste biomass can be pyrolized on site.

A worker focused solution that can be implemented anywhere

Even in the middle of nowhere which is the center of the world for our workers.

What is great about biochar is that in not only locks away the carbon for thousands of years it boosts crop yields.

Simple, yet effective

Kon-tiki kilns are used in remote areas for small productions. Any farmer can contribute to the planet health even without special equipment.

Being
specific

A coop mindset and fair economics

As a coop we put people before profits. Climate change is a collective pain that is a side effect of just wanting nice things in life: a hot shower, an easier commute, an airplane flight to see family or take a vacation. We dont believe profits should be made from this pain and our commitment is to sell the carbon to you at cost price.

This is also smart as the lower the price the more we can sell. Climate scientists estimate we need to remove 4-16 billion metric tons of carbon/year! That wont happen at $150/metric ton. Currently we are around 28% below market price and are aiming for 85% below market price.

We might be crazy, but we think this is possible for two reasons:

  1. The most important is that we don’t have investors who want profits!
  2. The second is how our primary business model, selling solutions to farmers, enables us to get free biomass which lowers the price of making carbon credits.

We make and sell biochar fertilizer (biochar + manure and synthetic fertilizers like nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium). By helping farmers grow more we end up with more waste biomass that is then converted to biochar. This we hope will keep price of carbon credits as low as possible which increases removal that is the best interest of farmers and the rest of us.

The removal only happens because you pay for it (what is called additionality). But the money is mostly for workers doing that work. We want 95% of what you pay to go to the workers. The remaining 5% goes to 3rd party verification and auditing companies who verify the process.

As a coop our accounts will be radically transparent (and if you are experienced in accountancy, economics etc you can join us and help ensure that).

Our carbon offset program is cost-effective, transparent, and high-impact, with over 80% of revenue directly benefiting African communities. In a time when the world is facing a shortage of reliable, high-quality carbon removal projects, our model offers a nature-based, measurable, and community-driven solution for offsetting unavoidable emissions.

We control the means of production

Our system is fully in-house — we’ve built our own hardware, software, and operational model from the ground up. This was part of the Carbon XPRIZE which was an international competition which we competed in and won two parts of. Our end-to-end approach ensures quality, traceability, and scalability. Through our Biochar app, universities, companies, and individuals can seamlessly integrate verified carbon credits into sustainability reporting and ESG commitments, with full visibility into the impact they’re supporting.

Planet fitness

Our model is like a gym membership. If you go to the gym and put in the hard work, then you are more conscious of what you eat. You are less likely to pile on the pounds with junk food. So, you eat with health in mind! We think that could apply to carbon. If you pay for the removal of carbon you will seek ways to reduce its emission in the first place. Our monthly newsletter will help with this and provide tips you can use to easily reduce your emissions.

A Founder with a purpose

David Hughes, founder and internationally renowned scientist who transitioned from mycology research to climate change solutions

David Hughes

David was an internationally renowned scientist working on fungi that control ant behavior- the famous Zombie Ant system. Besides his pure science which won international prizes and the usual accolades, his work inspired video games and TV shows like the Last of Us, books and movies like World War Z on which he was a consultant. He was having a wonderful time and especially so since he was kicked out of school at 15 so being able to live his dream of being rainforest scientist was amazing!

But, he gave up his life’s work and passion to focus on climate change. That is his contribution to solving climate change. What will your contribution be?
